Where Will This Path Lead

Susan Ernst - Best-selling Author - Books for Kids and Adults

I absolutely love discovering paths built by others long ago. It’s thrilling to imagine the hands that crafted them, the hearts that beat with purpose. Who were these trailblazers? What drove them forward? How many souls united to carve out this journey? And most importantly, where does this path lead?

Recently, I embarked on my own adventure by moving to the East Coast, landing in the vibrant heart of DC. Just steps from my new home, I found a path that mirrors my own life’s journey. This cross-country move has been like climbing an ancient set of stairs, each step shrouded in mystery but promising revelation. If I keep going, I’ll eventually reach the summit and understand the view.

One thing I’m certain of, though: making a big move at this stage of life demanded an inner courage I hadn’t realized I possessed. It wasn’t until I was knee-deep in the whirlwind of change – a new home, new neighbors, a new doctor, dentist, you get it – that I recognized the bravery within me. Every facet of my life has transformed, like the pieces of a kaleidoscope coming together to form a new, beautiful pattern.

Amidst all this upheaval, a poignant realization struck me. For years, I had prayed to be closer to my family, and now, right before my eyes, that prayer has been answered! In the hustle and bustle of adjusting, I almost missed this divine gift. Today, I thank God for answered prayers. I vow to treasure each moment, to cherish each day. Where will this path lead? Only God knows, but I’m ready for the journey.
